Travelling around the world! That idea is going round in our head for a long time now. But going in “Holidays” doesn’t make sense for us. We need a target, something to focus on. It didin’t take a lot of time before selecting the main subject of that tour: Childhood.
Children are not afraid by the unknown, even the language barrier isn’t a problem for them and they don’t judge the difference. Through our individual experiences, we have been in contact with a lot of children (home-based courses, entertainer for summer camps…).
Once we found the subject, the project had to be defined. School is a world that we like but we wanted to bring something positive to the pupils. Not only speak about school and exams but about something they really like and that they will share with us without any problem. That’s why we chose games in playgrounds.
Playing is a delight but it’s also a Right, as the Declaration of the Rights of the Child adopted in 1959 by the United Nations points out:
“The child is entitled to receive education, which shall be free and compulsory, at least in the elementary stages. He shall be given an education which will promote his general culture and enable him, on a basis of equal opportunity, to develop his abilities, his individual judgment, and his sense of moral and social responsibility, and to become a useful member of society.
The best interests of the child shall be the guiding principle of those responsible for his education and guidance; that responsibility lies in the first place with his parents.
The child shall have full opportunity for play and recreation, which should be directed to the same purposes as education; society and the public authorities shall endeavor to promote the enjoyment of this right.”
We will focus on plays and games around the world : Do kids from Kenya, France, China or Australia have the same activities ?
We will meet pupils from primary schools and share with them playing times and creative activities, collect all games and rules we will discover and share this database with schools we met during this adventure. Moreover we would like to create partnerships between interested schools of the world. Either with our website or by their own. After our trip we will go back in the French schools we met to share our experience with the children.
Here you can see the list of our partners and schools who will receive us.
